In light of an article I read about a “famous” christian Mommy Blogger having divorced their husband and now being married to another woman I decided to write this short article.
Glennon Doyle Melton said: “if Jesus had “needed me to believe that homosexuality was a sin, He would have mentioned it,” in a recent Charisma article online.
That would be an astute statement if it were true. Jesus did not say anything specifically about homosexuality because He didn’t have to. God’s feelings on the subject were already known in the Torah and it is quite specific!
Let us start with what Paul said first: Romans 7:7 ” What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid! Nay, I would not have known sin, but through the law; for I would not have known lust, except that the law had said, “Thou shalt not covet.”
So we know through Pauls writing that the law (Torah or God’s instructions to man) determines what is and is not sin!
Now we need to look at that law Leviticus 18:22 “‘Do not have sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman; that is detestable. “
Actually the whole Chapter on sexual relationships is quite telling as to what God desires from us in those relations.
Then Paul reaffirms this in Romans 1:24-27 “24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: 25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: 27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
We are at a crossroads in Christian history. We will either stand up for the truth of what God HAS told us in His Word or we will become apostate as this lady has. The world is changing quickly and while it is not my place to judge those outside the Church ( 1 Corinthians 5:12) in the same passage we are told that yes we have every right to judge those who call themselves Believers but are living a life that is contrary to His teachings and trying to warp His Word to live any lifestyle they choose to.
It is my prayer that she will see the error of her ways. The problem is she has a huge following and will be leading many astray.
Stay in the Word and be vigilant!!!
